SUMMARY:Energy Chat | Kimley Horn
DESCRIPTION:Electricity customers are finding more ways to offset their power needs and reducing their carbon footprint by owning their own power generation running in parallel with the electric utility. Kimley-Horn’s company leaders in Renewable Energy will discuss technologies\, policies\, and challenges around implementing distributed generation “behind-the-meter.”  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeorgia Tech graduates Kaleb Drew and AJ Jain have spent over a decade solving some of the most challenging power system problems for nuclear power plants\, data centers\, advanced manufacturing facilities\, electric vehicle charging hubs\, and microgrids.Together they lead Kimley-Horn’s Electrical Engineering division focused on incorporating solar and battery storage projects of all scales into the US power grid. Their diverse project backgrounds have given them unique insight into the interplay of electrical loads and power generation as they support the global energy transition. Their current projects will add over 2 gigawatts of carbon-free electricity to the electric grid this year ranging from solar canopies in parking lots\, to large battery storage farms\, to a fully-separate 100% renewable-powered microgrid to support a brand new city in the Caribbean.

SUMMARY:Energy Chat | CEBA x Energy Club
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for an engaging event hosted by the Energy Club at Georgia Tech in collaboration with the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) on November 5th\, 2024\, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM in Klaus 1443. We are excited to welcome James Hauser\, Senior Associate at CEBA\, who will discuss key topics in utility policy and opportunities in the energy sector. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA native of North Carolina\, James was a legislative and policy analyst for 10 years in Washington\, DC prior to moving to Atlanta to transition his career to Southeastern utilities. James was a legislative assistant in the U.S. House\, and also an analyst at Mitsui\, a Japanese company that specializes in natural gas and mining. At the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy\, James prioritized opportunities to research clean energy and utility planning. James’ signature project [that got him a job at CEBA] was managing a team project of a lifecycle analysis of Duke Energy’s 2022 North Carolina integrated resource plan under Professor Valerie Thomas. Clean energy policy at the state level requires collaboration between analysts\, lawyers\, and engineers. James is excited to meet you all and take your questions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[Placeholder for files after the event concludes]
